Arsenal hand trial to Colombian starlet

Atletico Nacional Sebastian Perez

Atletico Nacional’s Sebastian Perez has started his trial at Arsenal, reports The Red London.

Arsene Wenger is keen to bring the Colombian to the Premier League, and could move for £5million should he impress.

The 20-year-old impressed this summer playing for Colombia’s Under-20 side at the Under-20 World Cup, earning his time training at the Emirates. The defensive midfielder, who can play as a box-to-box talent, hasn’t played a league match for Atletico Nacional since May, due to his involvement in the tournament.

Perez could provide cover for injury prone midfielder Abou Diaby, and competition for Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta, who often fight for a place alongside Jack Wilshere and Santi Carzola in the starting line-up.

Should the trial be successful, Perez could become Arsenal’s second summer signing, after Wenger secured the signature of Yaya Sanogo from Auxerre.

With the club still targeting Liverpool forward Luis Suarez, Wenger is still keen to strengthen other areas of his side apart from his attack, with Perez offering defensive cover.

Perez is regarded as one of Columbia’s best young talents, with plenty of experience for a 20-year-old. As well as the Under-20 World Cup, Perez has already completed two full seasons with Atletico Nacional.

Do Arsenal fans want to sign Perez? Should the club focus on proven talent instead?
