Arsenal handed transfer boost

Stephan Lichsteiner

Juventus are ready to sell Stephan Lichsteiner to Arsenal in order to fund a move for Liverpool and Tottenham target Christian Eriksen, according to the Daily Express.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for the versatile midfielder throughout the summer, and now it appears the Old Lady are willing to do business for around £12million.

The 29-year-old has the ability to play right-back, or right midfield, and Wenger is in the market for a player capable of challenging Bacary Sagna and youngster Carl Jenkinson for a place in the side.

The Gunners boss was previously chasing Malaga full back Jesus Gamez as part of a swap deal that would involve Nicklas Bendtner moving in the opposite direction, only for the move to fall through after the forward rejected the Spanish club’s wage offer.

Juventus are hoping the deal for Lichsteiner goes through so it will free up funds for them to bid for Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen.

The 21-year-old midfielder is set to leave Ajax this summer, with the club prepared to listen to offers as the player has only one year remaining on his contract.

Both Liverpool and Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for the Danish international, but will now have to move quickly following the news of interest from Juventus.
