Arsenal tried to sign Barcelona’s Pedro in the summer, but instead ended up with Alexis Sanchez, according to Marca.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the Spaniard in the January transfer window after failing in a bid for him in the summer.
Marca claim the Gunners tried to bring him to the Emirates before securing Alexis Sanchez’s signature, but were told by the Catalan giants that they would not listen to any offers for Pedro.
But it is believed Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is eager to test Barcelona’s resolve next month with an improved deal, although is it believed they would have job persuading the player to move on their hands.
Pedro has recently said: “I would not leave. I am comfortable here. I want to stay here with [my] colleagues and hopefully we can have a good year.”
But with Lukas Podolski edging closer to a transfer to Italian giants Inter Milan, it appears Wenger already has his sights set on a worthwhile and effective replacement.
