New Arsenal star Matteo Guendouzi turned down Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund to join the Gunners this summer, according to The Independent.

What's the story?

The 19-year-old was part of the Paris Saint-Germain youth academy but he was released at just 14 when he was picked up by Lorient.

The midfielder only featured a handful of times for Lorient in Ligue 1 before they were relegated in 2017 but started more games for the French club in the second division last season.

Guendouzi made his debut for Arsenal against Manchester City and fans should be grateful to have the talent at the club because he turned down serious interest from Dortmund and PSG according to the report.

The teenager wanted to play in the Premier League and believed Arsenal to be the natural choice to develop his career and take him to the top of his game.

Bags of talent

Guendouzi showed in his debut for Arsenal against Manchester City that he is not afraid of getting on the ball, although his inexperience at this level did show on occasions.

The fact that Europe's top clubs were fighting out for the youngster is a testament to the pull of Arsenal as well as the talent they have on their hands.

It may take him a while to bed in at the Emirates but he's definitely one to watch and could form the bedrock of the Arsenal central midfield that they have struggled to fill for so long.
