Geoffrey Kondogbia is the perfect player to solve Arsenal’s midfield woes, according to Gunners hero Perry Groves.
The Londoners once again dropped points from a winning position at Swansea on Sunday, with Arsene Wenger’s side’s shaky rearguard singled out as the major reason the game ended in a 2-1 loss after the visitors had led through Alexis Sanchez.
Mikel Arteta’s injury woes forced a midfield reshuffle from the Frenchman, who relied heavily upon Mathieu Flamini to anchor his side.
A number of ex-pro’s and pundits have weighed in since the defat in South Wales, and Groves believes that Kondogbia of Monaco – whom Arsenal were linked with when he left Sevilla last year – is the perfect player to right the wrongs in Wenger’s engine room:
“They need a physically imposing holding midfield player as they have many technically gifted players going forward but they don’t have many players that think defensively.” He told The Express.
“There’s a lad at Monaco called Geoffrey Kondogbia who is very similar to Patrick Vieira and he played at the Emirates Cup.
“Arsenal need someone who can help in the transition from defence to attack.
“It would take a lot of money to get him, but he’s physically imposing and he would be the perfect buy.”
