Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has called on his old club to push through a summer deal for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with the French ace in recent weeks, amid rumours that the La Liga giants are looking to cash in on him.
Arsenal are known to be in the market for a top class goal-getter, with the failure to land Luis Suarez from Liverpool last year having highlighted an eagerness to address the problem of an over reliance on Olivier Giroud.
Benzema is valued at around £30m, and Parlour feels that Arsene Wenger should do all he can to get the high-profile forward to the Emirates Stadium this summer:
“Benzema has been mentioned, he would do a good job.” He is quoted by the Daily Star.
“There is one thing with Arsenal, you always get lots of chances.
“They need a fox in the box, an Ian Wright back in the day. An Ian Wright would be perfect.
“We will have to see who they get but I hope it’s another massive signing, it would be fantastic for Arsenal.”
Benzema has long been thought of as one of Europe’s top strikers, and has hit 17 goals in 34 La Liga outings this season.
