Abou Diaby, Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott will all be missing when Arsenal take on Reading while Kieran Gibbs is rated doubtful
The Gunners have been rocked by the news midfielder Diaby will be out for “eight to nine months” with a serious knee injury he picked up in training so he will not be seen again until next season.
Wilshere is on his way back from an ankle injury but boss Arsene Wenger is unwilling to rush him back so he will sit out the game along with Walcott, who has a niggling groin injury.
“Jack (ankle) is still out and Theo is still out because he has a little groin problem,” Wenger revealed. “For this weekend he will be short. He is progressing very well but will not be involved on Saturday. It is one week, basically the next game, for Theo.
“Jack will start to run again outside next week but it might make two weeks for him – on Monday next week he will have been out for four weeks.”
Meanwhile, Gibbs is sick and Wenger says he is not sure whether the player will figure as he has not seen him for three days. There is better news regarding both Lukas Podolski and Bacary Sagna, who are fit and available for selection.
