Arsenal keen on cut-price January move for Ligue 1 star

Arsenal are among a pack of clubs chasing in-form Bordeaux midfielder Henri Saivet, according to reports from The Mirror.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a bright start to the current season after being moved from an attacking midfield role to a deeper, more central position and even found the net against Liverpool in Europa League action last week with a well-taken free-kick.

And his performances have not gone unnoticed across the Channel, with reports claiming that Arsenal are interested.

The Gunners are understood to be looking for midfield reinforcements heading into January, with Francis Coquelin injured, while going forward numbers may be needed with the likes of Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta both out of contract next year.

As well as Arsenal, Everton, Spurs, Aston Villa, Swansea and Bournemouth are thought to be keen on Saivet, with scouts from the clubs thought to have watched him at Anfeld last Thursday night.
