Lyon’s Maxime Gonalons has emerged as a possible target for Arsene Wenger as he looks to strengthen his team in time for next season, according to the Metro.
Reports in France suggest that the Gunners have made contact with Lyon to try and speak to Gonalons about a possible move to the Emirates stadium.
Earlier this year, Arsenal were supposedly watching the French holding midfielder and reports suggest that Arsenal boss Wenger has told Lyon to name their price as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of next season. The recent departures of Alex Song and Cesc Fabregas in recent campaigns has left Arsenal weak in the middle and Wenger is hoping to add Gonalons to his squad, with the 23-year-old rated as one of the best prospects in the division.
Gonalons currently has three years to run on his current contract and it is believed that Lyon are willing to sell the midfielder for £15million.
The established French international has been capped 6 times by the national side, earning his debut as recently as 2011.
Gonalons came through the ranks at Lyon and has since gone on to make over 100 appearances in midfield to catch the eye of many European bosses including Wenger.
