Arsenal are in pole position to sign Ipswich Town's highly-rated full-back Dylan Crowe, according to The Mirror.

What's the word?

Unai Emery significantly bolstered his Arsenal squad in the summer by signing Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Bernd Leno but he has his sights on further additions in January.

According to The Mirror, Arsenal lead Manchester United in the hunt for Ipswich Town full-back Dylan Crowe - a player who is yet to make his first-team debut with the Championship side but attracted attention with his performances for England's U17 side at the European Championships in the summer.

Bundesliga duo Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are also in the hunt for the teenager but it is Emery's side who are currently ranked as the most likely to secure his signature.

What can he offer?

Arsenal bolstered their depth at right-back by signing veteran Lichtsteiner in the summer on a free transfer after he left Juventus, and the Switzerland international provides competition for Hector Bellerin in the first-team.

However, the 34-year-old is not a long-term option for the Gunners in this position and further depth is required beyond the aforementioned pair with Carl Jenkinson suffering a massive fall from grace in recent seasons.

An ideal move would see Arsenal sign Crowe in January before sending him out on loan until the end of the season to a side that can offer senior action and then reassessing the situation next summer, where Lichtsteiner's one-year deal expires.
