Manager Arsene Wenger has made Higuain a priority for the club this transfer window, after being priced out of any possible deal for Stevan Jovetic or England forward Wayne Rooney.
Higuain has reportedly asked his agent to make a move to Arsenal happen, as no formal negotiations have actually taken place between the two sides. The Argentine forward is set to snub interest from Juventus and Atletico Madrid, in order to move to the Emirates.
The 25-year-old scored 16 goals in La Liga last season, but was left frustrated at the amount of times he wasn’t given the full 90 minutes.
Wenger will be hoping that the forward can bring that same scoring form to England, but only after the Frenchman agrees to meet Higuain’s £150,000-a-week wage demands.
The move is expected to be completed for a fee between £20-£25million, with Wenger keen on keeping the figure as close to the £20million mark as possible.
Arsenal fans will hope the deal is completed as early as possible, and could even watch the forward play in the Emirates Cup, which takes place on the 3rd and 4th of August.
Is Higuain the right man for Arsenal? Should he be ignoring Juventus for the Gunners?
