Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has another Premier League crown left in him according to former Gunners midfielder, and club legend, Ray Parlour. The former Arsenal midfield anchorman revealed his belief that Wenger will “do a Fergie” in quotes published by the Daily Express:
“I think Wenger can do it,” Parlour said. “His squad is in great shape having bolstered it with Gabriel. And I believe it is his destiny to do exactly what Sir Alex Ferguson did. To win that trophy one more time and then call it a day.”
“Wenger would love to go out at the very highest level and lots of Arsenal fans would be delighted. Certainly that will be what he is looking at.”
Optimism among Arsenal fans appears to be high again with the likes of Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and World Cup Winner Mesut Ozil returning from injury in recent weeks; just in time to face Tottenham in the Premier League.
Parlour is also quoted in the above Express piece as saying that now that the North London club have achieved financial security there should be greater onus to kick-on and take the club to the next level.
The former Arsenal midfielder states that while the North London Derby remains a big fixture, Arsenal and Arsene Wenger should really be viewing the games against Manchester City and Chelsea as their ‘big games’, and thus, main rivals.
