After a tough couple of weeks for Arsenal players in general, former Gunner and club legend Ian Wright has tweeted at youngsters Joe Willock, 20, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, 22, after their part is perhaps one of the most entertaining games we’ve seen since Barcelona stepped foot in the same arena last season.
If you didn’t manage to tune into last night’s match, we are sorry. After collecting five goals apiece, a nerve-wracking penalty shootout added the cherry on top of what was already an oh-so-sweet cake, and while Arsenal came off second best against Liverpool at Anfield, their part in demonstrating why football is one of the greatest sports on the planet was priceless.

While Willock and Maitland-Niles haven’t been exposed to the same sort of overt criticism that teammates Granit Xhaka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have, the latter of whom was confronted by an angry fan as he waited in traffic leaving the Emirates recently, the pressure will likely still have been felt nonetheless.
