Arsenal legend Robert Pires is confident that the Gunners can secure a top-four finish in the Premier League this season, as quoted by The Daily Express.

What's the word?

After a difficult start to life in North London saw Unai Emery's side lose to Manchester City and Chelsea, Arsenal have bounced back to win nine consecutive matches across all competitions prior to the international break.

The Gunners sit fourth in the standings heading into the return of Premier League action this weekend but see their rivals play beforehand, with Arsenal's next match coming on Monday evening against Leicester City.

While there is still work to do, Arsenal legend Robert Pires is quoted by The Daily Express as being '100%' convinced the Gunners will finish in the top-four and seal a return to the Champions League next season.

What was said?

"For the moment I am very happy of course for the club because I am an ambassador for Arsenal but especially for Unai Emery because he’s a great manager. He done well with Sevilla, he won some titles, especially with Paris Saint-Germain last season.

"And of course you know you need to improve every day but Arsenal actually are on a very good run, especially in the Premier League. Nine games, nine victories so I think they will finish in the top four, sure, 100 per cent."

Is he right?

Despite nine victories in a row, Arsenal are still not quite performing at their best but that could actually be a positive as it suggests there is a lot more to come from a side still finding their feet after a managerial change in the summer.

The form of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette has been exciting, handing the Gunners a duo who can spark life into the top-four push, while Granit Xhaka and Alex Iwobi are amongst those showing considerable improvements under Emery.

Bigger challenges are on the horizon but Arsenal should be able to maintain their fine run of form in the coming games against Leicester, Sporting Lisbon, Crystal Palace and Blackpool before facing off against Liverpool at the start of November.
