Arsenal legend Robert Pires has urged Gunners boss Arsene Wenger to land Southampton star Victor Wanyama, report the Daily Express.
The 42-year old former Highbury favourite believes Wanyama would solve a long standing problem at the heart of Wenger’s engine room amid an injury crisis in North London.
The 24-year old is an anchor on the South Coast and has thoroughly impressed since joining from Celtic in 2013 as Saints march up the Premier League.
Pires, who won two league titles and three FA Cups at the club, is convinced the Kenyan is perfect for Wenger as he looks to toughen up his midfield.
‘Wanyama is a good ambassador of Kenyan football and has done well in Southampton but I hope he signs for Arsenal soon’, revealed the World Cup winning winger.
Arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur tried and failed to lure the player away from St. Mary’s in the summer, though he has put that move behind him and focused on getting back to his best under Ronald Koeman.
