Arsenal line up Italian World Cup star for smart £10.7m deal

Arsenal are lining up a £10.7m summer move for Torino’s all action full-back Matteo Darmian, according to reports from Metro.

The 25-year-old has emerged as one of Italy’s top defensive talents over the course of the past two years, playing a key role in the Turin side’s qualification for European football before featuring for his nation at the World Cup.

Darmian, a right-sided defender, scored one and set up the other as his side beat bitter rivals Juventus over the weekend, and Arsene Wenger is believed to have been alerted.

The player’s value has steadily risen through the season, and Torino know that they may be able to get a good fee for their man, especially with interest from the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Darmian could add energy to the Gunners’ right side, while providing Mathieu Debuchy and Hector Bellerin with competition.
