Arsenal lining up summer move for Premier League’s best player

Arsenal are ready to battle for Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez this summer, according to reports from ESPN.

The Algeria international has been one of the standout performers in a topsy-turvy Premier League season (WhoScored.com place him as the top-rated player in the division), with his 14 goals having helped the Foxes to a shock top of the table berth as the season moves into March.

Naturally, there is vast interest in the silky attacking midfielder, and reports claim that Arsenal are among the list of big teams chasing the African star.

It’s understood that the Gunners will be keeping a close eye on the 25-year-old between now and the end of the season and will pursue a move this summer if given any indication that the player himself wants to leave the King Power Stadium.

Mahrez signed a new contract ahead of the current campaign, but his value and stock have never been higher, so there may be a temptation on the player’s part to leave Leicester for a true elite club.
