Arsenal lining up unusual move for midfield twins

Arsenal are looking at a somewhat unusual move to land German pair Lars Bender and Sven Bender, who are twin brothers, according to reports from Metro.

The midfielders play for Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund respectively, and are seen as good central options amid suggestions that Morgan Schneiderlin is edging towards a move to Manchester United and interest in Arturo Vidal is cooling.

Even with the shock emergence of Francis Coquelin as Arsene Wenger’s main enforcer, the Frenchman is thought to be looking at adding to his ranks, with the Benders on his radar.

Reports suggest that both Lars and Sven are wanted at the Emirates Stadium, with the duo, potentially, seen as a partnership to succeed Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini.

The twosome have both represented Germany at senior international level, with Lars’ 19 caps the greater tally.

The potential swoop would be a very unusual one, with siblings playing alongside each another relatively rare.
