But the 23-year-old went on to make just 94 appearances across all competitions, the majority as a substitute, as he struggled to usurp Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema from the starting line-up.
Jese has been linked with a Premier League move for much of his career and according to The Daily Mail, Arsenal and Liverpool were both mooted as summer suitors after reports emerged claiming Real Madrid were looking to cash in.
However, the Premier League duo have been beaten to the speedster’s signature by Ligue 1 champions PSG, who confirmed his arrival on Twitter earlier this afternoon.
