Arsenal looking to raid Prem rivals for star as injuries mount

Arsenal have made Southampton’s Victor Wanyama a key transfer target ahead of January with injury problems at the Emirates Stadium mounting, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Gunners have are now without a host of their major midfield players, with the likes of Santi Cazorla, Mikel Arteta and Francis Coquelin having been ruled out with long-term problems.

This has forced manager Arsene Wenger to turn to the likes of Mathieu Flamini, but with January’s transfer window looming he’s eager to act, and reports claim that Wanyama is the player the north London club want.

The Kenyan has impressed since joining the Saints from Celtic in a £12.5m deal and it’s understood that Arsenal have been watching his progress closely.

Although not the most technically adept of players, Wanyama is known for his imposing frame, power and good reading of the game, which would compliment Wenger’s more creative options such as Mesut Ozil.
