Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud faces a three-match banArsenal striker Olivier Giroud will watch from the stands when his side host new champions Manchester United on Sunday.

Arsene Wenger’s side appear to be in the driving seat for a top-four finish, they sit in third place just one point ahead of Chelsea with four Premier League games remaining.

France international Giroud will miss the game at the Emirates as he begins a three-match suspension after losing his appeal for the red card picked up in win against Fulham last time out for a poor challenge on Stanislav Manolev.

The man who joined from French champions Montpellier in the summer will now sit out matches against United, QPR and Wigan as they aim to hold on to their lofty league position.

Wenger has seen his side finish in a Champions League spot in every season of his tenure with the north London club and he will now have to look for other options in attack to ensure that continues.

Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski will both be vying for the centre forward role in Giroud’s absence.
