Arsenal make first move for Southampton and Liverpool target

The agent of Napoli midfielder Jorginho has confirmed that Arsenal have scouted the player, according to the Daily Star.

The Brazilian born star has been attracting interest from both Liverpool and Southampton, though it looks as if the Gunners have made the first move.

The 23-year old has emerged as one of the brightest stars in Serie A thanks to his recent performances, prompting interest from all over the continent.

Joao Santos, his agent, revealed that the Emirates outfit have been casting a keen eye over his client this season.

‘One of the head scouts for Arsenal is well known, and so I know he was at Maresi for the Napoli match’, claimed Santos.

The Gunners are set to lose Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini at the end of their deals in the summer, with England star Jack Wilshere constantly struggling with injuries.

Thought to be valued at around £22m, the midfield maestro has made 12 Serie A appearances thus far, and would be open to a move according his agent.

‘If Napoli receive an irrefutable offer for Jorginho then it’s normal that we’d make our assessments.’
