Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to react to his current midfield woes with a January move for Porto’s Danilo Pereira, according to reports from O Jogo.
The Gunners chief is currently short of central options, with key names such as Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla having both been ruled out with long-term injuries.
Wenger has been reliant on veteran star Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramsey – who he often uses in a more advanced role – since losing their pair, but reports (below) claim that with the January transfer window looming large he’s keen to draft in another player.
And Porto’s impressive 24-year-old Danilo is the top target, with the enforcer having shone for Primeira Liga leaders Porto this term.
However, a swoop may be problematic with the seven-cap Portugal international having only moved to the Estadio do Dragao from Maritimo over the summer.
Arsenal have also been linked with Sporting CP’s William Carvalho in recent times.
