Having joined from Lorient back in the summer of 2018, Matteo Guendouzi has established himself as an integral part of the first-team set-up at Arsenal.

The floppy-haired Frenchman has already made a remarkable 77 appearances across all competitions for the club, and for someone who will only turn 21 in April, that is quite the achievement.

As a result, it's no surprise to hear from Football.London's James Benge, that Arsenal are set to open contract talks with the midfielder. It's claimed that whilst negotiations have yet to take place just yet, the Gunners "would be prepared to offer Guendouzi a significant increase" on his current £40k-a-week wages.

After hearing about the report on the 20-year-old brought to the club by Unai Emery, fans of the north London side took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the situation.

One fan in particular meanwhile even urged the club to "sell him already", describing him as "useless".

Some Gunners fans however took a far more positive stance, insisting that he needs to have his contract sorted out with the club.

Still only 20, Guendouzi has got plenty of time to grow and develop at the Emirates.

Indeed, the Frenchman himself has recently admitted that he feels like he has a "certain status" within the team, and that his level has "increased a lot this year".
