Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos has pulled out of the Spain squad due to an injury scare, according to AS.
What's the story?
Ceballos, who is currently at the Emirates on loan from Real Madrid, has been a key asset to the Gunners' season so far as his contributions have helped Arsenal up to third in the Premier League table going into the international break. They find themselves just one point shy of last season's champions Manchester City.
After the injury to Alexandre Lacazette subsequent to the Gunners' 2-2 draw against arch-rivals Tottenham in September, Ceballos' injury will be a cause for concern to Emery as the new campaign progresses.
Ceballos had to end training early on Tuesday after suffering from muscular pains and underwent an MRI scan the next day.
Any serious injury was ruled out but he will still miss Spain's Euro 2020 qualifier against Norway, per AS.
Willock's chance
The Real Madrid loanee has been instrumental in getting the Gunners to where they are in the table. The Spaniard's creativity has hugely benefitted Unai Emery's side in getting the ball up to the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has scored seven goals in eight Premier League games this season.
With one goal and two assists in 11 games for the Spanish creative midfielder, Ceballos' absence will be evident and the manager will have to fill the hole that the creative midfielder will likely leave during his time on the sidelines.
Emery's system is perfectly set up for a player like Ceballos and he may have to make some changes to maintain Arsenal's current league position.
With Reiss Nelson also sidelined, Joe Willock could be the player that steps into the Spaniard's shoes.
The England U20 international has scored three goals in 10 appearances this season and the 20-year-old looks to be the likely candidate that Emery will turn to.
Having featured in seven Premier League games already this season, it could be the perfect opportunity for Willock to cement his place in the first team.
