Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has been nominated for the 2019 FIFA Golden Boy award.

The France U21 international is one of 20 players to be included on the shortlist and was one of four Premier League starlets to make the list. The award is handed out to the best player under the age of 21 that plays in one of Europe’s top leagues.

The 20-year-old has received a lot of praise in recent weeks with former Gunners defender Per Mertesacker expecting the youngster to become a “future leader” at the Emirates.

English duo Phil Foden and Mason Mount of Manchester City and Chelsea also made the cut, along with Everton’s Moise Kean.

Arsenal supporters were excited on behalf of Guendouzi as he was named on the illustrious shortlist. One fan believes that he should also be making the shortlist for the Ballon d’Or award.
