Arsenal missed out on £79m Ligue 1 trio over the summer

Arsenal considered moves for Anthony Martial, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Layvin Kurzawa over the summer, but missed on all three players, according to reports from Metro.

The Gunners endured, arguably, their most frustrating transfer window in recent memory last time out, with the addition of only Petr Cech giving the London club the unwanted tag of being the only side in any of Europe’s five biggest leagues to fail to sign an outfield player.

However, it was not for a want to trying, with reports claiming that Arsenal were in for Martial, Kondogbia and Kurzawa, only to be beaten to all three.

Martial instead signed for Manchester United in a deal worth around £36m, which came as a real blow as Arsene Wenger believed Monaco would not sell.

Inter Milan were successful with a £26m offer for Kondogbia, a highly-rated holding midfielder, while Kurzawa is now Paris Saint-Germain’s left-back after completing a £17m move to the French capital.
