The Switzerland international has been in strong form this season, averaging 2.4 tackles, 2.7 interceptions and a whopping 82 passes per appearance – although he’s also picked up three red cards from 28 Bundesliga outings.
He’s been linked with a summer transfer to the Emirates continuously over the last few months and earlier this week, the 23-year-old informed reporters that his future would be decided before the European Championships.
Likewise, Gladbach director Max Eberl recently confirmed that he’s received an offer for the 23-year-old, but it appears that offer was well below the club’s valuation.
Indeed, BILD claim Arsenal’s bid was worth just £19million, whereas the German club value their skipper at closer to £31million.
Consequentially, Gladbach have turned down Arsenal’s offer, expecting the north London club to return with a more serious bid in the coming weeks.
