In such a short space of time, Pablo Mari's proposed move to Arsenal turned into a mini transfer saga. The Flamengo defender was seen arriving at Heathrow, with reports claiming he was in London to complete a medical.

But having returned back to Brazil, it was then suggested the switch was hanging "in the balance", after Arsenal had supposedly changed the terms of the deal.

However, with time running out before the end of the January deadline, the Gunners have made the all-important breakthrough in negotiations. Prior to Arsenal's official confirmation of the move, Goal's Charles Watts revealed the centre-back will originally arrive on loan, with an option to buy - not an obligation.

And after initially hearing about Watts' insight into the terms of the loan agreement, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the news, with a few praising one man in particular: Raul Sanllehi.

A couple of fans lauded the fact that the move for Mari is a loan with an option to buy, with one supporter in particular referencing a quote from Josh Kroenke last summer, when he said: "When Arsenal Football Club knocks on a player's door it's a different knock".

One supporter of the north London side meanwhile took pride in the fact the Gunners didn't get themselves "bullied" by Flamengo.

Mari's arrival quite crucially will add another body to Arsenal's defensive ranks. Recent injuries to the likes of Shkodran Mustafi and Calum Chambers have robbed the Gunners of experienced options in the heart of defence, and so bringing in the Flamengo ace until the end of the season gives them an added layer of security.

And if he does perform well in his short time in England, then the north Londoners can exercise their option to buy. It's a low risk move with potentially high rewards, and it's the kind of business savvy that the Gunners should try and show more of.

Meanwhile, Arsenal fans have lauded this ace who was "playing like prime Cesc".
