Arsenal planning shock RVP swoop

Arsenal are planning a shock summer move to bring Robin van Persie back to the Emirates Stadium this summer, according to reports from The Metro.

The Dutch striker only left the Gunners to join the Red Devils in 2012, and helped them to claim the Premier League title last term.

But, rumours have suggested that the 30-year-old has grown unsettled at the club, which were further backed up by a thinly-veiled attack on new boss David Moyes’ tactics after the surprise Champions League loss at the hands of Olympiakos earlier in the week.

RvP is said to have a frosty relationship with the Scot, after being left disappointed by former chief Sir Alex Ferguson’s decision to retire.

Arsene Wenger is reportedly open to the idea of bringing his former captain back to North London, and could launch a raid when the next transfer window opens.

The Frenchman is confident that an offer of significantly lower than the £24m United paid for the forward will be accepted, and that the player himself will be willing to take a cut on his £200,000-per-week earnings.

Reports have already circulated that contact between Arsenal and van Persie’s representatives has been made, with the club keen to land a top class goal-getter in the summer.
