Arsenal plot double swoop for South American duo

Angel Di MariaArsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning moves for Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria and Abel Hernandez of Palermo, according to reports from The Telegraph.

The Frenchman is desperate to land at least one big name arrival before the transfer window closes, after enduring a quiet summer.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with Di Maria over the course of the past few months, and are ready to take advantage of his first-team uncertainty at the Bernabeu.

With Gareth Bale having secured a world-record switch to the Spanish capital, the Argentine international looks set for an almost impossible battle for first-team football.

As a result, he is keen to move on, and Wenger is keen to offer him regular action at the Emirates Stadium.

Hernandez is also on Arsenal’s radar, with the club keen to offer Olivier Giroud greater competition for a starting berth.

The Uruguayan has emerged as one of the top young talents in Serie A, due to his powerful playing style and eye for goal.

Meanwhile, Wenger is closing in on a move for Mesut Ozil.

The Real Madrid man is likely to cost around £40m, but Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested.

It also looks as if the club’s interest in Yohan Cabaye has ended.

Arsenal fans, could this summer turn into a successful one on deadline day?
