The French youngster is also a transfer target for Manchester United and Chelsea, with Real Madrid also interested in the midfielder.
The 20-year-old impressed some of Europe’s top sides with his strong performances in La Liga last season, scoring once for Sevilla in the league. His two goals in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup this summer continued to impress teams, who are considering activating his £8.5million release clause.
Sevilla manager Unai Emery isn’t convinced that Kondogbia will stay at the Spanish side, stating: “We want him to stay here but there are circumstances that could lead to an exit.”
But while Chelsea and United continue to express an interest in the French youngster, Arsene Wenger is reportedly ready to make a move by paying the necessary £8.5million. Kondogbia is on the verge of a full international call up to the French senior squad, highlighting the extent of his impressive performances.
The signing of Kondogbia would be the first transfer fee paid by Wenger this summer, after his one and only addition this transfer window, Yaya Sanogo, which was a free transfer.
Wenger will be hoping to sign the French youngster, but will also be focusing on the Gunners’ first match of the new Premier League season against Aston Villa on Saturday.
