Arsenal plotting shock summer transfer move

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie could make a stunning summer return to Arsenal, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Dutch ace only made the move from the Emirates Stadium to Old Trafford in 2012, but he is rumoured to have grown frustrated at life with the Red Devils.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s decision to retire is believed to have angered RVP, with the iconic Scot’s presence a major factor in his decision to make the move.

The 30-year-old was in inspired form last season as United eased to the Premier League title, but his performances have been below par this term under David Moyes – with whom his relationship is said to be fractured.

With Juan Mata’s arrival and a substantial summer recruitment drive expected at the club, it has been predicted that there will be a mass clear out.

Although van Persie is undoubtedly a key player, Moyes may be willing to sacrifice him in a bid to make his Spanish playmaker and Wayne Rooney the fulcrum of his squad.

Arsenal could launch a £15m move to bring back their former captain, even though his decision to leave angered fans of the club.

However, much depends on the future of Rooney, who may leave United if a new contract is not agreed.
