Arsenal pondering shock £9m Man United raid

Arsenal are considering a surprise £9m move for Manchester United’s Nani, according to reports from A Bola.

The Portuguese winger is understood to be free to leave Old Trafford for the right price this summer, with new boss Louis van Gaal ready to cut fringe players loose.

The Dutchman’s new 3-4-1-2 formation has also brought Nani’s role into question, with the wide-man not cut out for the defensive responsibility to adopt a wing-back role and has never really been tested in a central berth.

This has alerted Arsene Wenger, who is thought to be a long-term admirer of the skilful star.

Juventus and AC Milan are also tracking the 27-year-old, however the Gunners are hopeful that the lure of staying in the Premier League may tempt the player.

Nani arrived at United in 2007 dubbed as the ‘new Cristiano Ronaldo’.

However, despite his talent he’s struggled during his time in English football, with inconsistent form a major factor in his recent slide away from the club’s first XI.
