Arsenal are set to make an offer for Bayern Munich star Medhi Benatia this week, according to reports from RMC Sport.
Benatia has been heavily linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena recently, with the former 29-year-old struggling to secure regular playing time with the Bundesliga champions.
And the former Roma ace’s frustrations have alerted several clubs, such as Chelsea and Manchester United, with the Blues and the Red Devils previously in the race for his signature before he chose to join the Bavarians in 2014.
However, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is prepared to bring in a top centre-back this summer, and has made Benatia a priority target before the start of the new season.
The North London club are looking to make a genuine challenge for the title next term after finishing second behind Leicester City, and are already close to completing the deal to make Swiss international anchorman Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach their first signing.
Benatia has only made 14 league appearances this term, scoring one goal.
