Arsenal are planning to offer Southampton a huge sum to sign Morgan Schneiderlin in the summer, according to the Metro.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for the France international since last summer but have so far failed to secure a deal to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.
But with Barcelona now thought to be monitoring the defensive midfielder’s situation at St. Mary’s Stadium, the Metro are reporting that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is planning a sensational move to out-bid the Catalan giants.
Some reports have suggested Schneiderlin has already ‘agreed’ to join the north London side this summer, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
Wenger has made Schneiderlin his number one target for the summer as he looks to strengthen his midfield and boost the Gunners’ chances of mounting a serious title challenge next term.
The 25-year-old has made 18 Premier League appearances for Ronald Koeman’s Southampton this season, scoring three goals.
