Barbosa has already hit five goals in Santos’ 2016 league season in just 10 games, adding to his 10 in 2015, while a return of two strikes in four senior appearances at international level is also respectable.

Compared to Barcelona superstar Neymar by many, due to his skilful playing style and current club side, interest in the youngster’s signature from Europe has been plentiful, and Giulianelli has claimed on Twitter that Arsenal were once keen on him, but that third party ownership issues curtailed their pursuit of the attacker:

“Arsenal pulled out of the Gabigol deal a while back due to his contract being half owned by a third party.”

Giulianelli then went on to reveal that Serie A champions Juventus are at the front of the queue for Barbosa:

“Lot of negotiations would need to be done with Santos board and the other owners. Would end up costing £30m at least. Juventus most likely.”
