Arsenal ready January move for Prem’s ‘take on king’

Arsenal are ready to make a January move for Leicester City’s impressive winger Riyad Mahrez, according to reports from the Express.

The Algeria international has been, arguably, one of the Premier League’s top performers over the course of the first five games of 2015/16, with his four goals – the joint highest in the division – and 22 take ons – the greatest number of any player – particularly notable.

Although he did not score against Aston Villa on Sunday, Mahrez played a key role as the Foxes came back from 0-2 down to win 3-2, prompting Arsenal hero Alan Smith to hail the wide-man as the “bargain of the century” – he cost the King Power Stadium outfit around £500,000 back in January 2014.

And it appears that the Gunners have been similarly impressed, with reports revealing that a January offer is in the offing.

The London club famously failed to sign a single outfield player over the summer, which has left Arsene Wenger a little short on attacking options.
