Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to end Kieran Gibbs long spell in the north of London this summer, with Lorient’s Raphael Guerreiro in line to replace him, according to reports from the Guardian.
The England international has been under the Gunners’ umbrella since joining the club in 2004 as a youngster, and has been a first-team regular since making his debut in 2007.
However, he has spent much of the current campaign warming the bench due to the good form of direct rival Nacho Monreal, and reports claim that Wenger is open to offers for the 26-year-old this summer.
It’s understood that Gibbs could be sacrificed to clear space for Lorient’s impressive Portuguese starlet, Guerreiro.
Having three options in the left-back position may prove too much for Wenger regardless of the quantity of games his side could face, and it seems that Monreal is the main man at the Emirates Stadium, while the 22-year-old target could play a back-up role.
Gibbs is unlikely to be short of admirers during the off season given his experience.
