The Brazilian right-back has long been hailed as one of the best players in his position on the planet, and has been a key member of the Catalan giants’ recent successes.
However, his contract is due to expire at the end of the season, which has opened the door for a free move away from the Nou Camp.
And reports claim that, although United are keen, Alves has set his heart on London life, and could link up with former team-mate Alexis Sanchez at the Emirates Stadium.
The 31-year-old would, likely, provide competition for Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers on the right side of the Gunners’ rearguard.
The news will come as a blow to United, who had sanctioned a £100k-per-week offer for the experienced star.
