Arsenal activated the Leicester City talisman’s £20million release clause earlier this month and a decision on his future was expected after Euro 2016.
But Gunners gaffer Arsene Wenger revealed last weekend that he expects the England international to stay at the King Power Stadium, telling reporters; “Jamie Vardy is, at the moment, at Leicester and from what I know, he will stay at Leicester.”
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, that has seen the north London club revive their long-term interest in Juventus front-man Alvaro Morata, who looks set to be on the move this summer.
Indeed, Real Madrid are expected to activate a buyback clause before selling on the Spain international for considerably more, potentially as much as £40million, as reported by The Daily Mail.
Di Marzio’s official website claims the Gunners have now turned their attentions to the 23-year-old but will face fierce competition from London rivals Chelsea.
Incoming manager Antonio Conte is a big fan of Morata and looks set to reshuffle his strike options this summer, following underwhelming campaigns from Loic Remy, Radamel Falcao and Alexandre Pato.
