A defensive injury crisis has seen Arsenal linked with a variety of centre-backs since Per Mertesacker pulled up in a pre-season friendly, most notably Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi and West Bromwich Albion’s Johnny Evans.
But Sky Sports reported earlier this week that the Gunners are considering the Bayer Leverkusen defender as a potential alternative and TMW claim they’re now planning an official transfer bid.
The Italian rumour website further claims that the Bundesliga side would likely part with the 27-year-old if they receive an offer around the £14million mark.
Toprak has represented Turkey on 23 occasions but was not part of their Euro 2016 squad.
