Arsenal ready to solve defensive crisis with transfer raid for £14m BuLi star

According to reports from Transfer Market Web, Arsenal are preparing a transfer bid for Bayer Leverkusen defender Omar Toprak.

The Turkish international has already been linked with a move to the Premier League this year, with Kicker reporting on a Manchester United scouting mission back in March.

A defensive injury crisis has seen Arsenal linked with a variety of centre-backs since Per Mertesacker pulled up in a pre-season friendly, most notably Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi and West Bromwich Albion’s Johnny Evans.

But Sky Sports reported earlier this week that the Gunners are considering the Bayer Leverkusen defender as a potential alternative and TMW claim they’re now planning an official transfer bid.

The Italian rumour website further claims that the Bundesliga side would likely part with the 27-year-old if they receive an offer around the £14million mark.

Toprak has represented Turkey on 23 occasions but was not part of their Euro 2016 squad.
