Arsenal remain interested in Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi and are, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, ready to offer £29.7m, plus Olivier Giroud, for the striker.
The Argentine forward’s future has been a major talking point in recent weeks, with speculation having swirled that his agent, and wife, Wanda Nara, has already spoken to Arsene Wenger about a potential transfer.
However, as the weeks have dragged on no agreement has been reached, yet reports (below) claim that Arsenal could be willing to make a late offer for Icardi.
Indeed, while Napoli are willing to pay €60m (£50.9m) for the hit-man, the Gunners are supposedly eyeing a €35m (£29.7m) bid, with Giroud being thrown in as a makeweight.
The difference in price suggests that the French forward is valued at around €25m (£21.1m) by the London club.
It remains to be seen if this potential offer will tempt Inter, although the chance to secure a ready-made replacement as part of the proposal may be tempting given that there’s less than a month of transfer window left for deals.
Icardi netted 16 goals in 33 Serie A showings last season
