Arsenal readying Manchester City raid

Manchester City right back Micah RichardsArsenal are planning a shock move for Manchester City defender Micah Richards, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The Gunners were linked with a move for the England international over the summer, but opted against doing so due to his injury status.

The 25-year-old has since returned to the Sky Blues’ first-team and looks to have put his fitness issues behind him.

This has alerted Arsene Wenger, who is planning for Bacary Sagna’s potential exit at the end of the season.

The Frenchman’s current contract expires next year, and he has been linked with a free move back to his homeland with Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco both keen.

Wenger has been impressed by Richards’ numerous performances in the right-back berth for both club and country and sees him as the ideal man to bolster his current ranks.

Although City value their man highly, they may be willing to sell with Pablo Zabaleta seen as their first choice right-sided defender.

Richards – who is out of contract at the end of next season – has suggested that he is happy to stay put, but may change his mind if he is not playing regularly by January.
