Arsene Wenger has revived his interest in Sevilla midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia according to the Daily Mail.
The 20-year-old Frenchman is considered one of the most highly rated young midfielders in Europe, and has been attracting interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United.
However, Wenger feels those clubs have turned their attentions elsewhere, and is looking to sneak in and agree a deal for the player with cash-strapped La Liga side Sevilla.
Wenger has endured a frustrating transfer window so far, and would see a deal for Kondogbia as a major coup.
The Arsenal manager has so far been knocked back in his attempts to sign Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain and Liverpool forward Luis Suarez. It also appears long term goalkeeper target Julio Cesar is set to reject a move to North London in favour of joining Italian side Napoli on a season-long-loan.
It is reported Wenger has now turned his attention to Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul, and is also pondering a move for Swansea centre back Ashley Williams, with it being reported Thomas Vermaelen is set to miss the start of the season with a back injury.
