The former Manchester United midfielder has impressed in Italy since joining the Italian giants on a free transfer in last summer and his agent, Mino Raiola, boldly claimed this week that he was worth around £200million.
And Arsene Wenger’s formal enquiries about the 20-year-old Frenchman this summer appear to have fallen on deaf ears in Italy as Juventus plan talks over a new contract that will include a bumper pay rise, despite Pogba’s current contract not running out until 2016.
With just fours days remaining in this summer’s transfer window, Wenger is growing increasingly under pressure to spend his reported £75million war chest and this will be another blow to his plans to strengthen his side, having missed out on at least 10 other targets.
Pogba has made 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid quintet Iker Casillas, Karim Benzema, Kaka, Angel Di Maria and Mesut Ozil remain on Wenger’s hit list after all of them were told they were free to leave the Bernabau this summer ahead of Gareth Bale’s word-record £85million arrival from Tottenham Hotspur.
