Barcelona are keen on the signing of Paris Saint-Germain central midfielder Adrien Rabiot this summer, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.
The report says that Barcelona are huge fans of the technically gifted midfielder and sent a two-man delegation, including former French international Eric Abidal to speak to their PSG counterparts over a move.
It also claims that Rabiot does not want to renew his current contract with the French champions, which only has one year left to run.
The report also claims that PSG and Barcelona have a history of hostility at board level, which stems from a failed bid to take Marco Verratti to the Nou Camp.
It is no secret that Unai Emery is not working with a particularly large transfer budget as he seeks to revamp Arsenal in his maiden season in English football.
The Spaniard has already burned through a fair chunk of his transfer budget and although he has brought in recruits in the three key areas; goalkeeper, centre-half and holding midfield – bringing in someone of Rabiot’s undoubted technical class would also be a boost, and he is certainly a favourite with the Gunners boss given he made 50 appearances in all competitions under him at PSG last term.
It may even allow him to let Granit Xhaka leave, but the opportunity to get a top, young talent for less because his contract is running down is a rare one.
