Arsenal star as good as Ballon d’Or winners – proof Wenger doesn’t need a striker

Arsenal players always win the polls. We know that. Online polls are flooded with Arsenal fans bigging-up their team. It’s like they’ve never watched Arsenal before – all that optimism only to be set up for a fall.

So when we hear the names like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo then we sort of assume that Arsenal fans are at it again.

But even this one would have taken us a bit by surprise. ‘Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo… and Theo Walcott’.

Yes, that’s right: Theo Walcott! Bayern Munich and Austria defender/midfielder/road-runner David Alaba insists that the Arsenal frustration is one of the very best players he has ever played against.

Don’t believe us? Here it is straight from the mouths of babes:

Let’s be fair, Walcott does sometimes have a flash of brilliance in a game. It’s very rare, but when he does, it’s clear to see that he has momentary, fleeting talent. He has pace, he’s good on the ball, but then doing anything after that is always a problem for the Arsenal winger. He’s like a plug without a socket. Can he find a pass? Can he find a cross? Can he find a finish? The answer is usually no.

But it’s possible that there was a stellar performance at some point, and it’s possible that David Alaba was on the receiving end of it.

Still though – Theo Walcott…?
