The criticism of Mesut Ozil by some Arsenal fans has been so intense of late that you’d swear the German had forgotten how to play football.
But then it wasn’t necessarily the midfielder’s ability that was in question, but his application. Whether Ozil’s take-it-or-leave-it approach to sprinting is just part of his style or a sign of laziness, the World Cup winner looked much more lively in the first half against Aston Villa.
The return to his favourite central position behind the striker seemed to breath new life into Ozil, as he roamed around creating new pathways in Arsenal’s attack.
One goal and one assist later, and the German is well and truly back.
Play Mesut Ozil in the middle and good things happen.

Ah. I see Ozil is the best player in the world ever of all time again & Welbeck is Pele reincarnate. I follow way too many Arsenal fans.
