Arsenal moved to quash speculation linking Cazorla with a return to Spain only last week, but now Atletico manager Diego Simeone has hinted a move could still be in the pipeline.
When asked about a possible move for the Spaniard, Simeone told AS: “It is not good to talk about individual players, but until the club closes the comings and goings, anything is possible.
“We’ll see what happens from the sporting directors. Until the window is closed, anything is possible.”
Cazorla only moved to the Emirates a year ago, and proved to be one of the team’s stand-out performers during an often difficult season.
The Gunners are understood to be unwilling to sell their £15million man, and are said to have rejected Atletico’s approach out of hand.
Arsene Wenger is looking to build a squad capable of challenging for silverware next season, and wants the days of selling his top players to be put firmly behind him.
The club have been linked with a host of top players this summer, including the likes of Luis Suarez and Gonzalo Higuain, but so far are yet to complete a major signing.
There is concern amongst supporters that with Atletico bolstered by the £50million received from AS Monaco following the sale of Falcao, an improved big money bid may prove too good to turn down as Wenger looks to rebuild.
